Day Fifty - Seven

First off, how much do I love Unknown Mami? If you have somehow found me without finding her first...Stop reading. I mean it. Stop reading, scroll down to my blog list, and click on her link. You won't regret it. If you find your way back to me, terrific. If you get lost in her lovely blog, well, can't say as I blame you. She is insightful, funny, and darnit she likes me so I really can't do anything but adore her. In all seriousness, however, she is a dynamite lady in person and my blogging goddess. So go already... go.

Wow, did you come back? How amazing is that? Is it because she told you to? Gosh, do I love that woman.

So we are entering the weekend and my son has a playdate this afternoon. And two offers for next week. So my son is officially way more popular than me. And that is great. I love that he is a confident, together little boy with lots of friends.

I especially love that because I have never been confident and together. Hollywood is full of characters like Ally McBeal and Bridget Jones. In those versions, the women are far more attractive than their situation would otherwise suggest and despite everything, they are adored. Well, here in the land called Earth, men do not instantly fall in love with the clumsy, insecure, messes of the world. Employers do not appreciate inappropriate dress in the workplace. And doors don't fly open when you are the kind of person who throws herself full force into a door that clearly says "Pull". (Yes, I really did that. More than once. Okay. Okay. Lots more than once.)

So I confess. I am a mess. Though I did have a dear grad school friend who told me I wasn't clumsy, I was endearing. Really good friend. Really bad liar. But I love him anyways. If you're out there, AA, big kisses.

The good news, however, is that it is not a genetic condition. (My husband might suggest here that he had such a great pool that it counteracted my genes, but you haven't seen his closet!) I have managed to create and raise a great kid. Funny, bright, and best of all he likes himself. At the end of the day, this messy girl did something right. (At least for now....) And that makes me like myself.

Well thank you for all the kind words. I never noticed you being clumsy, but that's probably because I was too busy hitting my head on the low ceiling of the cage. Oh wait, you did that too.

My children have WAY better social lives than me! Wanna hear something really yucky? So do my PARENTS! The latter revelation at least implies hope, though... so there's that...

I am just off to write a little post about UM, too - and you'll be getting a little mention and linkage as well...

Came over from Tammy to check out your blog - I will return! And I'll echo Tammy's words that my PARENTS have a much more active social life than me too. How sad.

You have a lot of love coming you way from the blogworld! I hope much more comes your way. I feel like some of my best friends I've met through blogging, something I was entirely surprised by.

Your post touched me because just last night I was at a party and was completely invisible. I don't fit into the exact demographic and that makes a huge difference where I live. People I've met through blogging seem to be much more accepting.
:)

I hopped over here after reading Tammy's post. I'm a very clumsy person and not in an endearing way. Not even in a crazy Kramer kind of way. More pathetic than anything, I guess.

Thanks everyone! I'm sitting here sick for the umpteenth (I have no idea of the spelling but my mom always said that!) day in a row and truthfully, I was feeling a little low. Well, my spirits have risen much faster than my fever.

This blogging world is a pretty cool place. I started this as a way to express my self creatively, work out some things, and hopefuly grow a lot. I never imagined how many hands would reach out to guide me on my path. They say that the universe is abundant. Well, it has certainly proven so in the cyber universe.

So I thank you one and all. You've made my world a little better and a little brighter today.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww. I love that your son is turning out so wonderfully! You know, even if he would have turned out to be clumsy, he would have still been the most fantastic kid in the whole wide world to you : ) and I hope your own mother thought that about you. Clumsy or not, you were her baby and she loved you!

I love Unknown Mami too. Can't get enough of her : )
